Job & Company Description:
Our client in the steel manufacturing industry based in Mpumalanga is looking for an exceptional metallurgist to join their company. The duties will include but not limited to overseeing 3 shift production teams ensuring safety and quality compliance within the team in accordance with the relevant standards and cost-effectively executing all production related activities.
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- BSc/BEng Metallurgical / Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in steel making processes
- Knowledge and experience of Pyrometallurgy will be an added advantage
- Optimise and continuously improve the production processes, adhering to Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Moral (QCDSM) framework ensuring the business KPA’s and KPI’s are met
- Knowledge of steel plant CCM/ AOD and raw materials would be an added advantage
- Systems knowledge of energy and mass balance models, SHE and quality procedure and proficiency in MS Office
- Must be able to handle stress, show excellent attention to detail when dealing with high volumes of data and employ analytical ability to coach professional and skilled team members
- The successful incumbent must be physically fit to cope in an environment with extreme heat, dust and noise without fear of heights.
- Strong leadership, good judgement, management skills and strong business acumen are of the utmost importance
